Youth Job Opportunities
The Hall provides volunteer opportunities for high school students and adults to serve as hosts and Kid’s Club Volunteers.
The Science Career Ladder The Science Career Ladder is designed to attract minorities and women to science teaching and science careers at critical decision-making points in their lives.
Please note: For both programs all students must be available to work more than one semester.
Explainers These are paid positions for college students to interpret exhibits, perform demonstrations such as the cow’s eye dissection, orient visitors and assist with science workshops and special events.
Explainers often receive Science Education field credit from their college or universities.
This position is year-round. Minimum requirement of 5 hours per week. Maximum 20 hours per week. Weekends and evenings if needed. Starting salary is $8.00 per hour with room for promotions and raises.

Adult Volunteers Meet, greet and direct visitors, control visitor traffic, provide office assistance, help library staff, hosting receptions, special events, exhibition openings and sell memberships. High School Volunteers As a part of the Science Career Ladder Program, high school students assist in Preschool Place and Scholastic’s The Magic School Bus Activity Area with children and families creating science related arts and crafts projects.
